EVFTA: make in Vietnam, import at 0%

The EVFTA, the free trade agreement between the European Union and Vietnam, allows garments to be imported at reduced duty, down to 0%, on one condition: meeting the rules of origin. Many brands miss this advantage, or worse, wrongly believe they qualify.

01

The double transformation rule

For apparel, the EVFTA generally requires the fabric to be woven or the garment to be made in Vietnam or in specific cumulation countries, with precise rules per category. Fabric choice and origin are decided at development stage, not at shipping.

02

An advantage you can price immediately

EU duties on apparel commonly sit around 12%. On a €50,000 FOB order, an EVFTA-structured production saves up to €6,000, on every order.

FAQ

Are all products eligible?

No, every category has its own rule of origin. We check eligibility product by product before structuring production.

What documents are needed?

A compliant proof of origin (statement or certificate depending on the case) correctly issued by the exporter. We coordinate this with the factory.

What if my fabric comes from China?

That is the most frequent cause of non-eligibility. Alternatives exist: Vietnamese, Korean (cumulation is provided by the agreement) or European fabrics.
