The fixed price is not a commercial convenience, it is a method constraint: it forces the scope to be settled before anything starts, and therefore forces the questions that would otherwise be paid for later in sampling rounds.
Vietnam or China: the call is made before the first sample
The country is not a preference, it follows from the product. Vietnam holds structured tailoring and technical outerwear, with the EVFTA duty advantage on arrival in Europe subject to fabric origin conditions. China keeps the lead on certain knits, on leather goods and on complex trims, with a denser upstream industrial base. The call belongs at the brief, not after the first sample, because it drives the factory, the fabric and the duty, therefore the real landed cost.
The tech pack decides everything
A factory does not guess an intention, it executes a document. A usable tech pack carries the technical drawing, the measurement chart with tolerances, the fabric and trim bill of materials with references, the critical construction points and the finishing instructions. Without that level of detail the first sample comes back wrong and nobody is at fault. When tech packs are missing or incomplete we create or correct them, €150 to €300 per model, before anything reaches a workshop.
The firm quote, and what it actually contains
A readable quote separates fabric, making, trims and freight, with the quantity used as the basis of the calculation. That breakdown is what allows a price to be discussed instead of accepted: dropping a weight, changing a lining or grouping two models on the same fabric moves the cost in a way you can verify. Minimum quantities usually sit between 50 and 300 pieces depending on the workshop and the category, which stays workable for a first collection.
The calendar of a first production
The sequence is stable, it is the decisions that slip. Costed proposal in 2 to 4 weeks once the tech pack is received. Sampling in 3 to 6 weeks, with 2 to 3 rounds treated as normal. Production in 60 to 90 days. That is 4 to 6 months from brief to delivery. The entry pack itself runs 4 to 8 weeks depending on factory responsiveness and the number of product categories. The variable that overruns is almost never sewing, it is fabric approval.
After the pack: produce, or stop there
After the pack, you validate the sample and the firm quote, then we launch production, with a single responsible partner from quote to delivery, in line and pre shipment control included. You remain free to stop there: the pack stands on its own, and the documents produced, tech packs, itemised quotes, workshop contacts, belong to you. That is the difference between a production office and an intermediary living off the price gap.
